If you have a few minutes, you need to make this milkshake! It's a combination of a milkshake and a smoothie because it uses ice cream, but it also uses fresh or frozen fruit to lighten it up a bit just like my chocolate banana milkshake. What is the Difference Between a Milkshake and a Smoothie?
A milkshake usually contains ice cream, milk, and some sort of flavoring like a mint chocolate chip milkshake or peanut butter, making it rich and creamy. Milkshakes are more of a dessert and not a meal or a snack.
A smoothie, on the other hand, is generally made with fresh or frozen fruits, yogurt, juice, and sometimes vegetables. It is enjoyed more for a meal, or a meal replacement. Add some protein powder and you've got a great after workout snack.
Ingredients to Gather
- Banana. You can use fresh or frozen bananas. You'll want one cup of frozen bananas or one large, ripe bananas.
- Strawberries. One cup of strawberries. The strawberries can be fresh or frozen strawberries.
- Ice cream. I like to use vanilla ice cream in my milkshakes and then add flavorings like fruit, so we'll be using vanilla ice cream here. You can use strawberry ice cream if you can find it. My kids adore strawberry ice cream!
- Milk. Milk will help thin out the milkshake to make it creamier and more drinkable.

- Garnish this milkshake with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, or more vanilla ice cream.
