I absolutely love the combination of vanilla and crunchy chocolate chips, don’t you? CONFESSION TIME! You can often find me sneaking a few chocolate chips into my ice cream bowl for that extra chocolatey crunch!

We aren't using chocolate chip ice cream because you don't get enough chocolate chips in a scoop of chocolate chip ice cream. This milkshake is loaded with chocolate chips!

Ingredients to Gather

Vanilla ice cream. This is the base of our milkshake. You can use your favorite brand and variety of vanilla ice cream. Vanilla milkshake is the base to so many milkshakes, just like in my frozen white hot chocolate.
Milk. Whole milk helps make this milkshake creamy. You can use whatever milk you have in your refrigerator though.
Chocolate chips. Use your favorite brand. Every store brand has their own type of chocolate chips, and all will work in this milkshake.

Substitutions and Variations

Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake. Add a drop of peppermint extract for a refreshing twist. Or you could make a mint chocolate milkshake with mint chocolate chip ice cream!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Milkshake. Blend in a spoonful of peanut butter. Everyone loves peanut butter!

How To Make a Chocolate Chip Milkshake

Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend until the desired consistency is reached. Garnish the milkshake with homemade whipped cream (if you have it), some more chocolate chips, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

Tips and Tricks

We are using vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate chip ice cream because we can get more chocolate chips in the milkshake by adding them separately.
To make the milkshake thinner, add more milk. For a thicker shake, add less milk or include ice cubes.
Mini chocolate chips blend more easily, but if you’re using regular-sized chips, blend a bit longer to ensure they’re well incorporated. The longer you blend the milkshake the less likely it is that the chocolate chips will sink to the bottom.

Make Ahead Tips

Like all milkshakes, milkshakes are best enjoyed immediately after blending to maintain their creamy texture.

If you need to prepare them in advance, you can freeze the milkshake in an airtight container or popsicle molds. Just give it a quick blend before serving if it’s been frozen.
