What is a Shamrock Milkshake?
A Shamrock Milkshake is a deliciously creamy, mint-flavored milkshake that’s tinted green for a fun, festive twist. It’s basically a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in a cup!
Traditionally, it’s made with vanilla ice cream, milk, mint flavoring, and green food coloring. It doesn't get easier than that!
Ingredients in a Shamrock Milkshake

- Vanilla ice cream. It's the base to most delicious milkshake recipes.
- Milk. Whole milk is great for a creamy milkshake, but you can use 2% milk, nonfat milk, or your favorite nondairy milk.
- Peppermint extract. Mint extract will work too. A little goes a long way, so don't overdo it! You don't want it to taste like toothpaste.
- Green food coloring. To give it that festive St. Patty's Day green color.

Storage Instructions
If you want to make these ahead of time, blend the shake and store it in the freezer. When ready to serve, let it sit at room temp for a few minutes and give it a quick stir or blend to bring back that creamy texture.
You can freeze this Shamrock milkshake too, but then it would be ice cream! If you do want to freeze it, add it back to the blender with a little bit of milk and blend it up right before serving.
