This Mango Kale Smoothie is full of wholesome ingredients, ready in just a few minutes, and includes only a few simple ingredients! For a filling and delicious smoothie, this one is for you!
This is a great smoothie to serve with a mango chia seed pudding!
I love making smoothies for my family. It's a great way to get my kids to eat their fruits and veggies, without them realizing it. If you know me, I LOVE to hide fruit in my kid's diet. I have to add ingredients that I know they will love with things that might not be as delicious, like kale. My son LOVES mango, as do I! So what better way to get kale into his diet, add it to a mango smoothie!
If you love mango like my son does, you need to try this mango apple smoothie and my personal favorite, mango pineapple smoothie!
Ingredients You'll Need
- Mango. There's nothing better than a fresh mango! It's so sweet and delicious! To find a ripe mango, hold it in your hand and squeeze. There should be a little give to the mango. It should not be hard as a rock or it will be very tart.
- Kale. In the grocery store, you can find bags or prewashed kale and those would work great. Make sure to wash the kale and remove all of the woody stems, those do not taste good and won't blend well.
- Yogurt. Yogurt gives this smoothie a boost of protein to make it more filling. Use your favorite flavor. Vanilla, plain, mango, pineapple, or whatever you would like!
- Milk. Almond milk is classic in smoothies, but you can use your favorite milk just like in my grape smoothie.

Substitutions and Variations
- Add more mix ins! You can add avocado, chia seeds, hemp seeds, or even flax seeds to bump up the nutrition in this smoothie.
- Add more protein! Add a scoop of your favorite protein powder. You can also add some nut butter to the smoothie such as peanut butter or almond butter.
- Add more greens! We are adding kale to this recipe, but you can add spinach as well or instead of kale. Spinach will blend a little easier since it is a lighter leaf than kale it.
- Add more fruit! We are adding a lot of fruit to this smoothie already, but when it's peach season, throw some slices of peach in! Berries are always a great idea too! Add a handful of blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries to the blender.
- Change the sweetener! We are using honey, but you can use maple syrup or agave syrup instead. If you have a really sweet mango, you may want to leave the sweetener out all together.
How To Clean Kale
You go to the grocery store and realize they do not have anymore bags of prewashed kale, what now? Don't panic! It's easy to wash kale. Here's how you do it:
- Prepare the kale. Start by gathering your kale bunch and a bowl of cold water.
- Separate the leaves. Tear the leaves away from the stems. The stems are tough and fibrous, so it's best to throw them out or save them for a different use, like soup stock.
- Submerge in water. Place the torn leaves in the bowl of cold water. Swish them around a bit to loosen any dirt or debris.
- Rinse. Lift the leaves out of the water and give them a good rinse under cold, running water. This helps to ensure that any remaining dirt or grit is washed away.
- Dry: Shake off any excess water from the leaves or use a salad spinner to dry them thoroughly. Pat them with a clean kitchen towel to dry them thoroughly.
How To Make Mango Kale Smoothie
Step 1: Add the mango, banana, and pineapple to the blender. Clean the kale and add it to the blender as well.
Step 2: Pour the milk into the smoothie. Add the Greek yogurt to the blender.
Step 3: Add the honey to the blender.
Step 4: Blend on high until the smoothie is completely blended and smooth.
Tips and Tricks
- Make sure you are using a high speed blender. The kale can be hard to blend, so keep blending until all the ingredients are smooth. A high speed blender is best to get the creamiest smoothie possible.
- If you are using all fresh fruit, add a handful of ice cubes. If you are using frozen fruit, feel free to leave out the ice cubes.
- I love making these into popsicles too! Blend the smoothie and then add it to your favorite popsicle mold. Freeze it for at least 4 hours and then enjoy the popsicles as a treat during the hot Summer days!
- To make this smoothie ahead of time, blend until smooth and then pour it into a mason jar. Cover the mason jar and place it in the refrigerator. There will be separation of the smoothie, so shake it well before enjoying it. You can also add it back to a blender to blend it well.
