We are a BIG dill pickle loving family! There's nothing that a dill pickle won't be good with so it only make sense that my family is totally hooked on this dill pickle dip! I think it’s because it checks all the right boxes. It’s creamy, tangy, and has that perfect pickle flavor that we just can’t resist.
Plus, it’s super easy to make, so it’s become our go-to snack for everything from movie nights to family gatherings. We always end up dunking anything we can find, chips, veggies, pretzels, you name it we dip it in this dip!
We also love making cannoli dip, Oreo dip, and cookie dough dip! They are all delicious on a buffet at your next party!
What Type of Pickle to Use
For that classic dill flavor, go for Kosher dill pickles, which tend to be tangy and garlicky. I don't know about you, but I always have a jar of Kosher dill pickles in my fridge! Refrigerator-style dill pickles are also great because they’re super fresh and crunchy. Don't use sweet pickles for this recipe. They will add too much sweetness to the dip and we want this dip to be more savory.
Ingredients to Make Dill Pickle Dip
You only need a few simple ingredients to make this creamy dill pickle dip!

- Dill pickles. Use your favorite kind. Make sure to chop them small, but not too small. You want to have a little bit of pickle in every bite.
- Cream cheese. It should be room temperature to make it easier to combine into the dip. Make sure to use full fat cream cheese. Full fat cream cheese is best in dips like my cold spinach and artichoke dip because it gives the dip a creamy flavor and texture. It's so good!
- Sour cream. For extra creaminess.
- Dill. Fresh dill is best, but if you have dried dill just use ½ tablespoon of dried dill.
- Pickle juice. Use the juice from the jar of pickles that you use.

How To Make Dill Pickle Dip
Make sure your cream cheese is nice and soft for easy mixing! Let it sit at room temp for about 10–15 minutes if it’s been in the fridge.
Step 1: In a large bowl, add the cream cheese and sour cream. Stir until smooth.

Step 2: Fold in the chopped pickles, pickle juice, and fresh dill. If you like it a little more tangy, add some more pickle juice.

Lynn's Tip!
For the best flavor, cover your dip and let it chill in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour and then serve.
What to Dip in Dill Pickle Dip
Dill Pickle Dip is super versatile and goes well with a lot of different types of dippers! Here are some of our favorites!
- Fresh veggies. Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, bell peppers, and celery are great with this dip.
- Chips. Pita chips, potato chips, or even tortilla chips all work!
- Pretzels. Their salty crunch pairs perfectly with the tangy dip.
- Crackers. Whole wheat, everything-seasoned, or classic butter crackers are all great!
Storage Instructions
If you have leftovers (if you’re lucky!), store your dill pickle dip in an airtight container in the fridge. It will keep for up to 3 days, although the flavors may get a bit stronger with time. Just give it a stir before serving, as some of the liquid might separate slightly.
I wouldn't freeze this dip. When you freeze recipes that include cheese or creamy ingredients, it tends to separate and not come back together. This dip is best made and served within a few days.

Yes, you can use dairy-free alternatives for cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Just make sure they’re similar in consistency to keep the dip creamy.

Notes
- I suggest double to tripling this dip if you are entertaining. It's a great dip that is easy to make and it also tastes great as it hangs out in the refrigerator.
- For a kick, add some hot sauce or chopped jalapenos for some heat.
- Do not use low fat or fat free cream cheese. That will make the dip more watery than we are looking for and it will change the texture and flavor of the dip.
