Ingredients to Gather
You only need a few simple ingredients that you can easily find in your local grocery store!
- Pineapple. Fresh or frozen pineapple cut into chunks. They don't have to be perfect chunks, just big enough to fit into the blender. If you have a fresh pineapple and are not sure what to do, check out my post about how to cut a pineapple. It will walk you through it step by step!
- Greek yogurt. Vanilla Greek yogurt is what we are using here. You can use plain or your favorite flavor. Sometimes you can even find pina colada or pineapple flavors.
- Coconut milk. Coconut milk comes in a can and can be found in the baking aisle of the grocery store. Store any extra coconut milk in an airtight container or in ice cube trays and freeze it for your next smoothie.

Substitutions and Variations
- Protein: Add protein powder (such as whey, pea, or hemp protein) to make your smoothie more filling. This would be perfect for an after workout snack or a filling breakfast.
- Healthy Fats: Add some healthy fats like avocado, coconut oil, or your favorite nut butter for added creaminess.
- Greens: Make it a green smoothie by adding leafy greens such as spinach, kale, or Swiss chard. They'll add vitamins, minerals, and fiber. I find that high speed blenders are best when adding greens to a smoothie.
- Berries: Add a handful of berries such as strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries to this smoothie for some added sweetness and a little tang.
- Oats: For added fiber and a thicker consistency, blend in rolled oats. They'll also make your smoothie more filling and satisfying.
- Seeds: Sprinkle in seeds such as flax seeds, chia seeds, or hemp seeds for added texture and some added nutrition.
How To Make A Coconut Pineapple Smoothie
Step 1: Cut the pineapple into small pieces. Add it to your high speed blender.
Step 2: Add the rest of the ingredients to the blender. Close the lid of the blender.
Step 3: Blend for 1-2 minutes until the smoothie is the consistency you desire. For a thicker consistency, add more ice cubes.
Tips and Tricks
- To lighten up this smoothie, instead of coconut milk, you can use your favorite coconut water.
- Coconut milk is often found in a can in your local grocery store.
- Fresh or frozen pineapple can be used. Frozen pineapple will make the smoothie super cold, but fresh pineapple can be used too.
Make Ahead Tips
You can prep all the ingredients before hand and when you are ready, add everything to the blender. If you would like to blend the smoothie in advance, you can do so and add it to a mason jar. Place it in the refrigerator and when you are ready to enjoy the smoothie, you can drink it out of the mason jar or place it back in a blender with some ice to get it really cold.
You can freeze this smoothie in freezer safe containers. Just be sure to label and date the smoothie. These would also make really great popsicles! Freeze them in your favorite popsicle mold for at least 4-5 hours. Then remove them from the popsicle mold and enjoy them.

Sure! If you have a pineapple that is not very sweet, add some maple syrup, honey, or sweetened condensed milk to up the sweetness in the smoothie.
